10 Stats That Show The Brilliance Of Chelsea’s Unbeaten Run This Season

Published on:

After Chelsea’s struggles last season it was almost impossible to think that the Blues would be leading the table by Christmas this year.

Chelsea were 16th and hovering over the relegation zone last season by this time – but just one year later the Blues are leading the Premier League table by 6 points.

Chelsea are on a roll, winning eleven games in a row – the Blues look certain to equal or to break Arsenal’s record of 14 Premier League wins in a row.

We bring to you 10 amazing stats that show just how brilliant Antonio Conte’s Chelsea is.

10. PERFECT MATCH

Chelsea have scored 25 goals and conceded just 2 goals in their last eleven games.

The two goals were conceded to Tottenham Hotspurs and Manchester City – but both the time Chelsea came back to get the three points.

The transformation has been immense, as in the first six matches Chelsea had scored 10 goals and conceded 9.

The Blues have now scored around 2.06 goals per game – which is the third highest in the league.

9. HISTORY MAKER CONTE

The Italian had a slow start to life in England but has since changed his fortune.

Conte is already making history thanks to Chelsea’s amazing winning streak – the Italian is now the first and only manager t have won 14 of his first 17 games as a Premier League club boss.

8. IT’S ALL ABOUT DRIBBLING

Chelsea have some of the best attacking players in the world – the likes of Pedro, Eden Hazard, Diego Costa, Willian and Michy Batshuayi – so it comes as no surprise that the Blues are the kings of dribbling in the Premier League.

Chelsea are the best dribblers in the league by a big margin, a fact that has helped them to move forward and catch opponents off-guard quickly.

Chelsea average 13.8 dribbles per game, while second placed Liverpool average 11.6 and Manchester United are third at 10.

7. DEFENSIVE MACHINE

The blues have transformed since switching to the 3-4-3 system, having conceded just 2 goals in 11 games.

Chelsea are a complete dominant force when it comes to defence at the moment, and yes David Luiz and Gary Cahill have made a few mistakes but the duo along with Dave (Cesar Azpilicuetta) have on almost all occasions handled themselves up and rectified the errors.

Meanwhile, last season by this time Chelsea had conceded 27 goals – highest for the top 13 clubs.

6. AND THE BLUES GO MARCHING ON ON ON!

Given their recent form it hardly comes as a surprise that Chelsea are topping the table.

Although just how far ahead the Blues are is astonishing.

Chelsea have taken a lead of 6 points already, and in history whenever Chelsea have been leading the league table at Christmas they have won the title.

5. THE GREAT WALL OF BELGIUM

Chelsea have been solid at the back, the defenders have been stunning but one man has been extra-ordinary – Thibaut Courtois.

Courtois has been sensational and on numerous occasions saved Chelsea from going down.

The Belgian has kept 11 clean-sheets in 17 games.

4. DIEGO DIEGO DIEGO

Diego Costa has been a revelation under Antonio Conte, the Brazil born Spaniard has re-found his form.

Costa was linked with a move away from the club in the summer but the talisman is back with a bang and how.

Costa has scored 13 goals in seventeen matches – with 8 goals in the 11 match winning streak.

3. MIDFIELD MAESTRO’S

Chelsea have been untouchable in the midfield with N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic working as the backbone of Conte’s 3-4-3 system.

A simple proof of the quality of work that the duo have done is that they have managed to bench Cesc Fabregas – which in itself is a huge compliment to their work.

The duo have been phenomenal and maybe that is the reason why Thibaut Courtois has faced the fewest number of shots than any other side.

2. BULLS EYE

Conte’s men are also leaders when it comes to shots on target – with Hazard, Costa and Pedro going all guns blazing.

The simple fact that only Tottenham have had more shots on target than Chelsea is a good stat, but when you understand that out of the total, Spurs had 9 shots on target against Burnley dictates that Chelsea haven’t relied on one team to improve stats.

1. TOP OF THE LEAGUE

Chelsea are leading the table by 6 points even after Liverpool’s triumph in the Merseyside derby.

On five of the last six occasions, the team topping the table at Christmas have won the league.

So Chelsea fans it’s a merry Christmas for all of you.
