EPL: Manchester Derby Sees Man United, Man City To A Goalless Draw

Manchester United and Manchester City played their hearts out in the Premier League on Sunday but alas ended on a 0-0 draw.

Playing at home in the Old Trafford, United came inching close to score first when substitute Jesse Lingard headed a high ball from Anthony Martial onto the crossbar.

The point moved City back to the top of the Premier League standings. Both City and Arsenal have 22 points, but City has a larger goal difference. United remains in fourth, with 20 points.

Playing their 170th Manchester Derby, United coach van Gaal believes the Red Devils lacked the luck needed to overcome the ‘compact’ Man City side.

We don’t have the luck,” Van Gaal said.

“I’ve seen on the video that Herrera should have had a penalty, but the referee did not give us the benefit because it was difficult to see”, he said.

United failed to register a single attempt on goal during the first half of the derby – the first time they had failed to do so in the Premier League since the 2003/04 season.

Expressing his dissatisfaction van Gaal reportedly has told his players, “I’m disappointed, I have told my players that.”
