Jesus Arrives At Etihad But Can He Revive Man City’s Title Charge?

New Manchester City boy Gabriel Jesus has arrived in England and is available to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier league this weekend.

The Brazilian teenager will wear number 33 jersey at the club. City captured his signature in the summer for a sum of £27 million but he opted to stay in the Brazilian Serie A to complete the domestic season in style.

Gabriel Jesus guided Palmeiras to a record league title with a game to spare and is now at the Etihad linking up with his new teammates.

“I want to win titles and Manchester City is a club that is used to winning,” Jesus told City’s website. “City is a club that always competes for the title in the competitions it enters, so that was an important factor, and because of the manager, [Pep] Guardiola, and the squad.”

“I’ve asked for it,” Jesus said. “It’s the number I’ve been wearing since I turned professional, it’s a number I ended up with and I really liked, and I intend to wear it for many years.”

On the opportunity to play under Pep Guardiola: “One thing I’ve noticed is that, like me, he’s mad about football.”

“He lives football 24 hours a day. I’m like that too. When I’m not playing, I’m watching, or playing a video game, doing something linked to football.”

“I think this is very important, that I’m the same as him and I hope to learn. As I said, I’ve come here to learn, I’m going to give my all to learn more and more from him and my teammates.”

Jesus is in hot form for Brazil scoring 5 times in 6 appearances.
