Wenger Insists He’s Working 24-Hours A Day To Attract World-Class Stars To Arsenal… But Fans Won’t Know As He Operates In Shadows

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger insisted that he is working 24-hours a day to attract world-class talents to Arsenal.

The Frenchman claimed that he has left no stone unturned and is working non-stop on new signings since winning the FA Cup at Wembley last month.

And he does not want to reveal his plans and is purposely keeping his negotiations in the shadows to remain one step ahead of his rival managers.

Wenger, 67, said: “We are trying every day to strengthen the team and that basically involves a lot of dark, invisible work.”

“But that’s what is demanded and it means I never leave my seat or go to bed without my phone, as anything can happen.”

“We will be on alert 24 hours a day to create the best possible environment around the squad.”

Wenger has already roped in Bosnia defender Sead Kolasinac, 23, on a free transfer from Schalke .

He has been spotted in France along with chief executive Ivan Gazidis as they held a meeting with Lyon president Jean-Michael Aulas this week to negotiate a £50million transfer bid for French striker Alexandre Lacazette.

The Frenchman is also monitoring the availability of Monaco teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe but expects that the talented youngster to remain at the Ligue 1 club for one more year.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has advised Monaco’s teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe to join a club where he will get regular game-time.

Earlier this week, FootTheBall had reported that Premier League giants Arsenal have launched a whooping a £87million bid for Monaco teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe.

The French manager had tried to secure the services of the wonder-kid last summer and would have to splurge only £230,000 under Fifa’s compensation rules.

And if he now ropes in Mbappe for a mammoth £87million transfer fee – it will be more than double of his record signing of Mesut Ozil, worth £42.5million.

Wenger also believes that the teenage star has all the potential to become one of the world’s greatest players.

Mbappe’s value has gone up beyond £100m and Real Madrid are ready to splurge a world-record transfer fee for the French youngster.

Wenger wants to land all his transfer targets before Arsenal fly to Australia next month to begin their pre-season friendlies.
