Chile lock horns against Bolivia in the Centenario Copa America 2016 Group D encounter at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts on Friday.
Chile lost to Argentina 2-1 in their opening fixture of Copa America 2016. Two goals from Angel di Maria and Ever Banega were enough to put the game to bed. Jose Fuenzalida pulled one back for Chile late in the game.
The match against Bolivia is crucial for Chile to keep their hopes alive in the tournament. A defeat in Friday’s match can end Chile’s chances of advancing to the knock-out stage.
“There will always be criticism and of course it affects you but it is part of our job to deal with it, said Chile forward Gonzalez.
“If we beat Bolivia it will be a different story. The team is confident of what it can do despite what happened against Argentina.
“But it would be a mistake to take Bolivia for granted because strange things can happen in the Copa America as has been demonstrated in this tournament already,” he concluded.
Bolivia lost to Panama 2-1 in their opening match and looks desperate to pull up their game against defending champions Chile. They need to defeat Chile in order to keep their hopes of advancing to the knock-out stage.
