Uruguay face Jamaica in Centenario Copa America 2016 Group C encounter at Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, on Monday.

Uruguay and Jamaica have no chance to progress further into the knock-out stages as they failed to clinch a victory in their two previous games against Mexico and Venezuela. Both the teams will play for pride in search of something to take back home and will eye a third place finish in the group.

Both Mexico and Venezuela have six points with El Tri sitting at the top spot on a better goal difference. Monday’s group stage battle will see both the teams fighting for a top spot finish in order to avoid Argentina in the quarter-finals.

Uruguay were one of the favourites in the tournament but they failed to deliver as they started their campaign with a disappointing 3-1 defeat against Mexico followed by a 1-0 defeat to Venezuela in their last game.

It would be interesting to see whether Barcelona star Luis Suarez gets a start in Monday’s clash against. Suarez did not feature in the last two games due to a hamstring injury that he sustained from Barcelona’s last match in La Liga. His absence posed a lot of problems for Uruguay in the front as Cavani failed to deliver.

Suarez was seen warming up and wanted to feature in their 1-0 loss against Venezuela but coach Oscar Tabarez had some other plans which backfired.

Later Suarez expressed his frustration and he was seen slamming the dugout canopy and throwing his boots onto the pitch at not being used.

Jamaica has been the most unimpressive side so far in the Centenario edition of Copa America as they are yet to score in the tournament. Jamaica lost to Mexico 1-0 in their opening game followed by a 2-0 defeat against Mexico.

Rodolph Austin’s 23rd-minute red card in their opening fixture against Venezuela was the epicentre of their misery and ending on the losing side after a hard fought battle against Mexico added to their failure and frustration. Jamaica had numerous chances to come back into the game against Mexico but they fumbled when it mattered the most to give away chance after chance with a sloppy finishing.

Looking back into history, Uruguay are the favourites in Monday’s clash against Jamaica. Uruguay have three wins and one loss against Jamaica in the recent past.
