Following Portugal’s Euro 2016 final win, Cristiano Ronaldo will have the Madeira Airport named after him with many in the Portuguese side crediting him for their success against host nation France in the final.
Miguel Albuquerque, the president of Madeira, has confirmed that the island’s main airport will be renamed the Madeira Cristiano Ronaldo airport.
The 31-year-old already has a bronze statue, a museum and a hotel named after him in Funchal – his birthplace and the capital of Madeira.
The Real Madrid star is reportedly back on the island after holidaying in Ibiza ahead of the new La Liga season.
He returned to Funchal on Friday to visit family and officially open his new five-star hotel called Hotel Pestana CR7.
Ronaldo, advised by agent Jorge Mendes, has a number of business interests away from football including his own clothing line and fragrance.
The Portuguese star is currently healing his injured knee sustained during the Euro 2016 final and is focusing on returning to form for Real Madrid.
