Out of favor Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze will reject any offers from the Merseyside club according to the Express.

Gotze’s former boss Jurgen Klopp has identified the German international as his number one target.

It has been reported that Bayern will accept a bid in the region of £20 million for the World Cup winner.

Gotze has previously said that he wants more game time after making just 14 starts last season due to injuries and bad form.

Klopp wants to qualify for Champions League next season and feels that Gotze will be a key factor if Liverpool are to achieve the target.

But according to reports in German magazine Sportbild, Gotze is not interested in a move to Anfield as the dashing playmaker feels it will be a step down from Bayern.

It was also reported that Gotze sacked his agent after he tried to force a move tp Liverpool.

SportBild have also reported that the German is interested in a move to Barcelona and Real Madrid, and he will also consider a move to Arsenal if an offer was made.

Klopp and Gotze had developed a special bond while their time at Dortmund, and the Liverpool manager was hopeful of persuading the Bayern Munich star to join him at Anfield.

The German manager while talking to the Express told how it felt when Gotze announced he would be moving to Bayern.

“It was like a heart attack,” Klopp said at the time. “At our training ground Michael Zorc [the general manager] walked in like somebody had died. He said: ‘I have to tell you something. It’s possible that…

“I called six or seven players who I knew were damaged in the heart. They thought they were not good enough – and they wanted to win together.

“That’s the reason it hurt them so much. But Bayern told Mario: ‘It’s now or never.’

“I told him they will come next year. They will come in two years, and then three years.
“But he’s 20 and he thought: ‘I must go.’ I know how difficult it will be to find a player to replace Götze but, next year, we will play differently. It just takes time.”
