Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho could make a sensational move next summer according to reports in Italy.
The 53-year-old is being linked with his former club Internazionale after the Nerazzurri’s struggling Serie A campaign.
Mourinho is still a very popular figure at the Milan giants, with the club hierarchy still in awe of the Portuguese tactician for his achievements during his 2 year stay at the San Siro outfit.
Jose Mourinho has taken the Manchester United job just this summer and it is unlikely that he will quit so early in his four-year-contract, but Inter are said to be deeply monitoring the situation at both the San Siro and Old Trafford.
Inter Milan are now backed by filthy-rich Chinese owners, who are aiming to take the Nerazzurri back to the glory days.
Current manager Frank de Boer was signed after Roberto Mancini got the sack just two weeks before the season started but the former Ajax boss hasn’t been able to turn the poor performances around.
Frank de Boer has been struggling to cope up with the pressure as Inter have been putting lack-luster performances, which has led to the team play in an almost empty San Siro, which was evident during the Europa League game against Southampton.
Suning group, the current majority shareholders of Internazionale are willing to spend big in order to attract big stars to the club, the new owners have also identified Jose Mourinho as the man who they want to take the club forward.
Mourinho had a very successful spell with Inter Milan – winning two successive Scudetto’s, a Suppercoppa Italiana, a Coppa Italia and a Champions League.
Mourinho helped Inter become the first Italian team to win the treble in 2010.
However, all this depends on how Mourinho fares at Manchester United, if the former Chelsea boss manages to impress the United faithfuls and club hierarchy – then it will be difficult for Inter to lure Jose away from Old Trafford.
Inter currently lie at 11th position in the Serie A after 8 games trailing league leaders Juventus with 10 points.
If Inter were to make advances for Mourinho it will have to be a very good offer as the Red Devils boss has vowed to take United back to the top.
