Ever optimistic Liverpool manager confessed that he hoped for a better finish for Liverpool in the Premier league table. Liverpool finished eighth in the Premier league table after being held by West Brom 1-1 on Sunday.

However letting bygones be bygones, Klopp’s prime focus now is the upcoming Europa League final clash where Liverpool will lock horns against Sevilla on Wednesday, to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League and win the Europa title.

Keeping the hectic schedule in mind, Klopp had rested most of his first team players on Sunday in the match against West Brom. Klopp had introduced a lot of young talents and made eleven changes in the squad that played against West Brom, only with the intention to give his first team players some breathing space and ample time to prepare the crucial Europa league clash on Wednesday.

In a post -match interview Klopp said that finishing eight in the league is not a dream position and reiterated that the Reds had played well but it is known to all where and when the team lost some crucial points.

He mentioned that there were times when a fourth place finish in the league seemed impossible but the team always tried to give their best to be in the race.

Talking about the upcoming Europa League final clash, Klopp said, “We know we have another chance on Wednesday and we will try everything to try and take this chance. Ad if not, then we have to use the extra time next season when teams play European football, and that is how it is.

Klopp was all praise about how the youngsters performed against West Brom in the absence of big names in the squad. Going down by one goal in the 13thminuteof the match, the Reds managed to hold their nerves strong and Ibe’s solo effort levelled the scores 10 minutes later.

“It was quite difficult for the team today because everybody knows about the quality of West Brom, especially on set pieces, and if you do not want set pieces then you have to keep the ball, “ Klopp said.

“We had a few moments when we lost concentration with maybe not the best passes, but we struck back through a wonderful goal from Jordan Ibe and I think the point was more than deserved for us today,” he concluded.
