Man City Close To Seal Leroy Sane In £31.2Million Deal From Schalke

Leroy Sane

Pep Guardiola is set to receive Leroy Sane to Manchester City after the latter’s club Schalke agreed to sell the forward for an initial £31.2million.

Sane re-iterated his desire to join City during the week and was not at Schalke’s Gelsenkirchen base on Saturday after saying his goodbyes to team-mates and preparing to travel to Manchester.

The fee has been the sticking point in City’s move for the young German international who, despite his undoubted talent, has still only completed one full season in the Bundesliga.

German media reported on Saturday night that he has travelled to Manchester ahead of completing his medical.

Schalke moved to sign Baba Rahman from Chelsea on loan on Saturday plus Wolfsburg defender Naldo and right back Coke from Sevilla.

Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel has revealed that Sane, 20, told him he wants to move during showdown talks last week.

He said: “Leroy told me on Wednesday in an interview again he has requested to change clubs.”

City are set to pay £31.25m in instalments for the Germany winger with the rest in add-ons.

It is understood that the Etihad club have been waiting until August 1 to kick-start their summer business.
