Manchester United are on the verge of signing Raphael Varane from Real Madrid, with the announcement imminent in the coming hours or days. Multiple reports have stated that Varane has agreed personal terms with the club and is looking forward to a move to the Premier League giants. The only stumbling block that remains are the finer details of the deal.
UNITED AND MADRID TO AGREE SOON
The transfer has progressed steadily and professionally with all parties being respectful to each other. Varane made his wishes of a move clear early on but also made it apparent that he will not be forcing a move through. An agreement between the clubs will have to be agreed for his departure.
Real Madrid were not very keen on letting the Frenchman go with captain Sergio Ramos already having left the centre defence deaprtment a bit light. However, Manchester United have offered a deal heavy enough to convince the Spanish giants to sell Varane.

The transfer fee is rumoured to be in the range of 50-60 million Euros which is a hefty sum for a defender although it is some ways off the pre-pandemic price that Varane may have commanded. United have taken a hit because of the Covid-19 pandemic financially but they still have sufficient muscle power to flex in the market, having already signed Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for a deal that could be worth upto 100 million Euros.

Transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano has stated that Varane’s move will be confirmed by the clubs in the coming hours or days. Presumably, there are some final details left to be ironed out, photo shoots to be taken and social media plans to be drawn. Varane comes to Old Trafford as a four-time Champions League winner and defending World Cup champion amongst other things – this move could be one of the defining ones of not only this season but of the many more to come after.
