FootTheBall sources believe that Jamie Vardy had held talks with the North London club after Arsenal approached his representatives with a £120,000-a-week offer, which is the exact double of what he earns at Leicester.

Jamie Vardy played a pivotal role in Leicester City’s first ever Premier League triumph and has 24 goals to his name last season. The 29-year old striker has also been named as the Football Writers’ Footballer of the Year for the last Premier League season.

FootTheBall sources confirm that the league champions have promised Vardy a whooping amount of 100,000 pounds a week for a new contract. Leicester City has been busy this summer to revamp their squad with fresh talents and also to hold on to their star players as they are in a mood to make an immediate impact in the upcoming Champions League Season. Critics believe that Vardy’s contract renewal will serve as a huge moral boost for the club in their upcoming ventures.

“Both parties hope that this announcement will end recent speculation regarding Jamie’s future and confirm his long term commitment to Leicester City Football Club,” the club said in a statement on Thursday.

“Jamie will continue to focus all of his efforts on trying to achieve success with the England team at the European Championships in France. There will be no further comment from either the Club or the player on this matter until the conclusion of the tournament.”

Jamie Vardy joined Leicester City back in the year 2012 from Fleetwood Town and he made an immediate impact as he played a quintessential role in anchoring his team to win the Championship in 2014 which secured a place for them in the Premier League.
