Wolfsburg Outplays Bayern Munich To Win German Supercup On Penalties

Wolfsburg shocked Bayern with the late 1-1 equaliser to wrap up the German Supercup 5-4 on penalties at Volkswagen Arena, a media report said.

Wolfsburg clinched the first title of the season on Saturday as they overcame in the Supercup, where the German Cup winners encounter the champions, foreign media reported.

The “Bavarians” dominated the encounter and took the lead through Arjen Robben early in the second half.

It looked liked Bayern could protect their neat 1-0 lead to the end but Wolfsburg’s Nicklas Bendtner restored parity in the dying minutes of the game to force Bayern into the penalty shootout.

Wolfsburg’s had the golden chance to stun the visitors with the opener against the run of the game but the Belgian international failed to slot home the ball into the open goal moments later.
