‘Barcelona Are Still Superior’ – Gerard Pique Mocks Real Madrid’s Bus Parade

Published on:

Gerard Pique has taken a dig at Real Madrid after Barcelona made the decision to not hold an open top-bus parade following their Copa del Rey triumph.

The Catalan side secured their third successive Copa with a 3-1 win over Alaves in the final to give departing Luis Enrique a winning farewell.

However, the club made the decision to not hold a parade citing a disappointing 2016/17 season as the reason.

The Catalan giants lost the La Liga title to bitter rivals Real Madrid, while also saw the Los Blancos win a successive Champions League crown.

Comparisions have been drawn between Zinedine Zidane’s current Madrid side and Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona that won 14 trophies in four years from 2008 to 2012.

However, Pique has refuted such claims as he said that Barca are still far superior to the Madrid giants and will remain so untill they hold an opn top-bus parade to celebrate a Copa win like Real did in 2011.

“You still can’t compare what we have won during all these years with what Madrid have won in the last two seasons,” Pique told Movistar +.

“What we did made Real Madrid go on a victory parade just for winning the Copa del Rey.”

“The day you see us going on a victory parade for winning the Copa will be the day when you can say that Madrid have entered a dominant cycle.”

Gerard Pique was mocked by Real Madrid fans during their La Liga title celebrations – with Sergio Ramos, Isco and Dani Carvajal visibly amused by chants of “Pique, b******, salute the champions.”

The Spaniard has however claimed that he is “not offended at all” by the incident and does not want an apology.
