Chelsea FC manager Jose Mourinho has been named the Premier League Manager of the Season, while Eden Hazard has collected the Player of the Year award.
The Blues have won their first Premier League title since 2010 this season, and Mourinho who did not win a single Manager of the Month award has been named Premier League Manager of the year. Other nominees were Ronald Koeman, Garry Monk, Nigel Pearson and Arsene Wenger.
“The cake (the Premier League title) is more important than the icing (the Manager of the Season award)” he told a British website.
“If, at the top of the cake, I am the manager of the season, obviously I am very happy with that.”
Chelsea secured the Premier League title early in May after a win over Crystal Palace, with their last game of the season at home to Sunderland on 24 may.
He added: “The problem in football is that you are eating one cake and you are still thinking about the next one. This is permanent.
“So I enjoy this cake very, very much, I have missed it for a while because the last one was in the 2005/06. But to go back to England and win it again is a fantastic feeling.”
Mourinho looks all set for the next season even when the current season is yet to get over.
