Klopp Claims New Liverpool Signing Salah Can Turn Reds Into European Challengers

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp believes that new signing Mohamed Salah can turn Liverpool into a dominant force in Europe by helping them to challenge for trophies at the highest level.

Liverpool have officially completed the signing of the Roma winger on a long-term deal for a transfer fee of €42 million on Thursday.

The transfer fee could now go up to €50m with further add-ons based on the performance of the player and Liverpool.

Klopp heaped praise on Salah’s never-say-die attitude and his pace after the winger completed his switch to Anfield.

The former Dortmund manager also feels that Liverpool is the perfect substratum for the Egyptian to win top titles.

Klopp said: “He is an ambitious player who wants to win and win at the highest level; he knows he can fulfill those ambitions with Liverpool.”

“He believes in what we are trying to do here at Liverpool and is extremely keen to be part of it. He is very excited about performing for our wonderful supporters.”

“I welcome him and his family into our Liverpool family.”

Salah has now become the second signing for Liverpool this summer after the Reds have already roped in Chelsea youngster Dominic Solanke.

Salah has proved his mettle at Fiorentina and Roma in Serie A after finding life difficult at Chelsea during his first stint in England. He had joined the Blues from Basel in January 2014.

Klopp continued: “Mohamed has the perfect mix of experience and potential – this is a really exciting signing for us.”

“He knows the Premier League, he has pedigree in the Champions League and he is one of the most important players for his country.”

“His record in Italy has been outstanding and he possesses qualities that will enhance our team and squad. I have followed him since he emerged at Basel and he has matured into a really good player.”

“His pace is incredible, he gives us more attacking threat and we are already strong in this area. I like that we will make it even more competitive.”

“Most important though, for us, is that he is hungry, willing and eager to be even better and improve further.”

Salah will now don the number 11 shirt at Anfield after Roberto Firmino opted to become number nine.
