Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has now made up his mind and will sit down with Argentine defender Marcos Rojo at the end of the season to hold talks about a contract extension.
Before the arrival of Mourinho at Old Trafford, Rojo was not guaranteed a place in the first-team as he drew huge criticism for his inconsistent form last season.
And even under Mourinho, the Argentine star took time to re-invent his best form.
But now ‘The Special One’ is believed to be very happy with his recent performances and his indomitable passion.
And now the Portuguese boss wants to offer him a new deal beyond the current two years remaining on his current contract at Manchester United.
Sources reveal that Mourinho is keen on extending Rojo’s contract by another 12-months on his present wage packet of £100,000-a-week contract, which will keep him at the club until 2020.
A United source said: “Jose has been impressed by his desire and attitude and is happy for him to stay.”
“They will all sit down at the end of the season and discuss it. Rojo also has no issues with remaining.”
“He does have two years left on his current money, but that will stay the same and they’ll be no increase.”
“It is just to keep things comfortable for everyone. Jose likes Marcos and things are going well for them both.”
Rojo had arrived at Manchester United from Portuguese club side Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2014 for a transfer fee of £16m.
The talented centre-back has made 55 appearances for Man Utd with one goal to his name.
