The Three Lions full-back recently returned to action for Spurs, having spent the last nine months on the sidelines due to a career-threatening knee injury.

Mourinho wants to increase his options in the left-back position and Man Utd have shown huge interest in roping in the England star in the recent months.

Speculations suggest that the Red Devils bosses are even ready to offer Luke Shaw in a swap plus cash deal to secure the services of Rose.

Sources have revealed that Tottenham would not listen to any offer for Rose which is below £50m.

And according to the Sun, Mourinho is aware that he will have to splurge at least £50m for the Three Lions defender.

Rose has picked up another knee injury in the 5-2 Boxing Day win over Southampton and will be on the sidelines for at least three weeks.

The Sun say that Mourinho has been guaranteed that Rose’s injury is not that serious and he will recover soon.

The same report also claims that Fulham will find it difficult to reject an expected £30m bid from Spurs for Ryan Sessegnon.

It is being said that Mourinho is desperate to sign Rose despite the Red Devils in need of more firepower up front.

When Mourinho was asked whether he will sign players in the on-going January transfer window, he said: “I honestly don’t know [about transfers].

“I know in this moment we are in trouble, in two or three weeks time maybe we recover some players and we breathe in a different way.

“Can we improve now or do we wait until the summer to try to do it? I cannot say.”
