Ronaldo Admits To Messi ‘Love’ But Reserves Ballon d’Or For Namesake

Brazilian legend Ronaldo has claimed that he feels both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are “fantastic”.

The ex-Real Madrid star however has tipped his name sake to win yet another Ballon d’Or this season.

Ronaldo is set to play in the Champions League final, having already clinched the La Liga title with Real this season.

The Portuguese has been in splendid form lately and is expected to lead the Los Blancos’ charge in the final against Juventus.

The Brazil icon won the World Player of the Year award thrice in his illustrious career, a record bettered by the dynamic duo.

Messi is currently on five, with CR7 just behind with four awards to his name.

Ronaldo told Fox Sports on his selection: “This year, I would choose Cristiano Ronaldo as the winner of the Ballon D’or.”

“For the last two years, he has been decisive. He was key in so many matches in the Champions League, he’s in the final. Cristiano’s numbers can’t be ignored.”

Ronaldo has 40 goals to his name in all competition this season, but despite not outscoring Messi – the 32-year-old has been instrumental in key games.

Meanwhile, Messi has 54 goals in all competition to his name – having guided Barcelona to Copa del rey triumph.

He added: “Both of them are fantastic.”

“I love Messi with the ball at his feet, he scores goals and does all the rest too. But Cristiano’s numbers can’t be ignored.”

“It’s a cruel comparison. Both of them deserve respect.”
