It was a fairy-tale start for Zlatan Ibrahimovic as he scored from a scintillating bicycle kick within four minutes of his Manchester United debut in front of his home crowd.

Zlatan got on the end of a decisive cross from Valencia before jumping in the air to launch a scissor kick which deceived the goalkeeper.

Zlatan has been the most talked about Manchester United signing and the clinical finish from an overhead kick manifests that he has a lot left to offer even at the age of 34.

In a match where all eyes were on Zlatan, Man United captain Rooney bagged two important goals which would boost his confidence before the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Rooney looked a bit out of shape and fatigued in the first half but his clinical finishes in the second half showed that he can still be a goal threat at newly refurbished Manchester United under new boss Jose Mourinho.
Rooney scored the double early in the second-half, the first one was a close range finish from a Valencia cross followed by the second from the spot.

Rooney was not at his best, if the first half is taken into account but if we reflect upon his career, the Man Utd captain has always needed game time to improve his fitness and perfecting his match sharpness. Thus judging him on the basis of a pre-season friendly would be foolish.

The main architect behind Man Utd’s comfortable 5-2 win over Galatasaray, was undoubtedly the Colombian star midfielder Antonio Valencia.

Rushing down the flank, Valencia played a pivotal role in the setting up three of United’s first four goals, displaying incredible pace, power and timing that newly appointed United boss Mourinho has always admired in his players.

Valencia has been a permanent name in the United squad in the recent past but critics have always branded him as more of an average performer. However last night’s blazing performance sparked a potential to deliver an efficient end product which Mourinho would definitely prefer to use and look forward to put his strengths to use in the right-back position.

[espl_highlight background=”#eb1c43″ color=”#ffffff”][/espl_highlight]Juan Mata Proves His Point

Even before Mourinho took charge at Old Trafford, there were rumours that the fan favourite Juan Mata would be shown the exit as he doesn’t fit in the tactical ideology of the Portuguese coach.

Mourinho had earlier sold Mata to Manchester United during his second managerial stint at Chelsea for a then record transfer fee of £37.1m.

However Mata proved his mettle against Galatasaray he curated a superb goal before finding the net from a sliding effort from close range, which is expected to force Mourinho to give a second thought.

Ashley Young, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford were introduced right after the first half and coupled with in-shape Valencia, induced real pace in the United attack, which repeatedly tested the Galatasaray defense.

Youngster Rashford’s blazing run down the wing clinched a spot kick for Manchester United, which put them on driving seat 3-2.

With Zlatan in the squad, Rashford might find it difficult to secure a place in the squad but his superb skill and pace earned him a standing ovation from the former PSG legend.
