WATCH: Colombian Footballer Hanyer Mosquera Arrested For ‘Punching His Girlfriend’

Hanyer Mosquera, a professional footballer from Colombia has been arrested after a video footage of him punching his girlfriend in the face surfaced emerged.

Hanyer Mosquera lives with his partner Hindira Herazo in the city of Rionegra in the north-west of Colombia.

Colombian pro Hanyer Mosquera was caught on camera punching his partner Hindira Herazo and then kicking her when she was down. The incident took place in the lift of the building where they both live in the city of Rionegro, north-western Colombia. The 29-year-old used to star for US outfit Portland Timbers before moving back to his native Colombia, where the defender currently plays for top-division side Rionegro Aguilas. Police reportedly arrived soon after the incident and arrested him for domestic abuse. Hindira Herazo has been quoted in local media and the story of their fight has been making headlines across the country. The footballer’s lover told local media that the fight had actually started inside their apartment - sometime before they got in the lift together. She was quoted as saying that while they were still in the flat "he started to drag me by the hair, he threw me to the ground, and I started to shout for help but people did not know where my apartment was or what was happening." She added: "He continued to beat me, punching me in the face, in the head, he hit me a lot, he pulled my hair, he kicked me." The couple then went into the lift together, where the CCTV caught the rest of the domestic. The player’s club Rionegro Aguilas told reporters that Mosquera had already been sanctioned after he showed up for a training session completely drunk. Now, considering the recent reports of domestic abuse, the club have said that he will again be punished, although it has not been made clear what those sanctions will be. Local media have reported that an investigation is currently underway in order to determine whether the player’s contract will be terminated.

Mosquera was caught in their buildings lift’s CCTV, attacking his partner.

Mosquera can be seen punching his girlfriend in the face till she drops to the floor, then he kicks her as she helplessly tries to defend herself from the assault.

The 29-year-old plays for Rionegro Aguilas in the top tier of Colombian football.

Mosquera has been arrested and is locked up on the charges of domestic abuse after the video emerged.

Herazo pleaded for help, but Mosquera, who according to the police was in an “apparant state of intoxication”, continued his assault as he dragged her on the floor, pulled her hair and kicked her several times.

The former MLS side Portland Timber’s defender has been previously disciplined for showing up to training “completely drunk” according to his club Rionegra Aguilas.

Rionegra Aguilas have said the player will be punished, but didn’t mentioned what actions will be taken against Mosquera. The club are conducting an internal investigation to determine whether Mosquera’s contract should be terminated or not.
