Euro 2016: English Fans Clash With Locals, Chant ‘ISIS Where Are You?’
Various reports have flown in from social media of a group of English fans clashing with locals, believed to be ‘Ultras’, on the eve of the opening of the Euro 2016 campaign in Marsaille.
According to various reports, the story goes English fans got attacked by a group of ‘outsiders’ to which they retaliated. The English fans were also reported to be chanting “ISIS where are you?” which some fans later said was a ‘joke’.
French police turned up and fired tear gas while also making two arrests, an Englishman and a French.
CCTV footage show chairs being thrown and violent street clashes, with local youths accused of baiting the visitors.
Marseille already has a rap sheet when it comes to football related law and order issue.
Fans reacted to the shocking events which occurred on social network with quotes from a user saying “No surprise to hear about it kicking off in Marseille. Can only see it getting worse with the Russians and England fans aswell”.
