Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande are targeting a shock swoop for Arda Turan with a mega money offer.
It is believed that the Turkish International failed to establish himself as a regular for Barcelona and the Chinese club are ready to take advantage of the situation.
With a proposed £44 million bid and £330,000 a week wage package, the offer might be hard to refuse.
His agent Ahmet Bulut met with Barcelona chiefs last week after mounting speculations of a possible move to the far east.
Turan will only consider leaving if offered a huge pay rise and Evergrande are ready to meet his demands by increasing his wage more than thrice to that of which he currently receives at the Catalan club.
The report also claims offloading Turan would benefit Barca as it would fund a bumper contract for Lionel Messi – who is a £100m transfer target for Manchester City and Chelsea.
If the deal falls in place, Barcelona can find a suitable replacement for the Turkish to fund Lionel Messi’s contract.
“Barcelona told me ‘no’ because they believe in me, I am a long-term project for the club and I didn’t just come here to play six months.”
Arda Turan confirmed that Barcelona turned down a offer from an unknown Chinese club in October.
The Chinese Super League have already secured the transfer of Oscar, John Obi Mikel, Carlos Tevez and Graziano Pelle.
While Evergrande boss confirmed that they have not made an official offer for Turan.
“Evergrande have not made any offer for Arda Turan or any other foreign player,” Scolari told Mundo Deportivo.
