Chelsea Miss Out On Another Defensive Target As Bayern Munich Rope In Niklas Sule

Published on:

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich had the last laugh as they outplayed Chelsea in the race to sign Hoffenheim star Niklas Sule, according to reports.

Current Premier League leaders Chelsea were keen on roping in the centre-back in the upcoming January transfer window. Conte has revolutionised the Chelsea defence with his new 3-4-3 system but he wanted to add more strength to the back-line by landing Niklas Sule. Foottheball sources claim that Conte was on the verge of launching a £30million bid for the defender.

Chelsea had made efforts to sign Sule in the last summer transfer window, but they failed. And now the Blues had reignited their interest in the talented centre-back, who is considered to be one of the most promising young talents in the German footballing fraternity.

However, according to Bild, Bayern Munich have already secured the signatures of Sule. The Bundesliga giants have already agreed in principle with Hoffenheim and reports claim that the deal is done and dusted – but the transfer fee is still undisclosed.

Sule’s expected arrival at Bayern Munich surely hints that Medhi Benata would be shown the exit.

The Moroccan is currently at Juventus on loan but Sule’s arrival at the German club could bring an end to Benata’s Allianz Arena career.

It also suggests that Chelsea will now have to look for some other player for adding more strength to their defence, despite sitting at the top of the Premier League table after their current run of 11 consecutive wins.

Sources claim that Bayern Munich have also reached an agreement with Hoffenheim over a free transfer of their talented young midfielder Sebastian Rudy.

Xabi Alono’s current contract with Bayern Munich expires next summer and it is believed that Rudy will replace him in the centre.
