Everton Reject Chelsea’s Improved Bid For Romelu Lukaku As They Hold Out For £75million
New Blues manager has been desperate to bolster the attack and looks forward bring back Lukaku to Stamford Bridge, and partner with him with the recent signing and his international compatriot Michy Batshuayi.
Conte was in the hunt for Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata this summer but after the Spanish giants revealed that Morata is not for sale, the former Juventus manager rests all his hopes on the Belgian star Romelu Lukaku.
Recently, Lukaku was on a holiday in Miami where he tested his skills in basketball against Manchester United target Paul Pogba. The former Chelsea man featured in Everton’s pre-season friendly against Real Betis.
Foottheball sources confirm that the Toffees have refused to lower their £75m asking price and have rejected Chelsea’s improved bid of £68million for Lukaku.
Chelsea had earlier sold the striker to Everton for a whooping amount of £28 million in 2014 before he spent a successful season on loan at Goodison Park.
Lukaku got better in his game and gradually evolved to become a first class striker since he joined the Toffees back in 2013. The 23-year old forward has since scored 61 goals in 127 appearances with 18 of them in the recently concluded Premier League season.
Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku is not only a poacher or a shadow striker but offers an all-round package to increase the depth of the squad. Conte is well aware of the lack of fire power at the front and is keen on bringing the technically gifted striker to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Foottheball understands that Conte will have to break Man Utd’s record bid of £59.7m for Angel Di Maria, if he wants to land Lukaku to Chelsea this summer.
