Premier League Champions Leicester City will have a tough time to hold on to their star striker Jamie Vardy as the Mirror reports that Liverpool have set up a tempting offer of  £140,000-a-week to rope in the services of the English striker this summer.

However it is believed that Liverpool might fail to negotiate the deal as the hefty buy-out clause in the player’s existing contract at Leicester can be a stumbling block.

On the contrary Liverpool Echo reports that the talented Leicester striker Vardy was never on the Liverpool wish list and the Reds are making no efforts to strike a deal with Vardy this summer.

According to recent media reports, Arsenal have triggered Leicester star Jamie Vardy’s buy-out clause and have placed a £20m offer to bring the England striker to Emirates this summer. Liverpool misses out the opportunity as the clause states that the option is only available to clubs who have a spot in the Champions League next season.

As of now this gives Arsenal the added impetus in the race for Jamie Vardy. Arsenal has been busy looking for big names this summer and the Vardy deal can complete the puzzle for Wenger and strengthen the forward line.

Critics believe that Arsenal needs to come up with a brilliant proposal and the process should be fast as the England national team manager Roy Hodgson has made it clear that he doesn’t want the players in the squad for Euro 2016 to engage in any transfer negotiations once the tournament kicks off.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was spotted at England’s 1-0 win against Portugal in a friendly on Thursday and it is believed that Wenger’s only interest was to scout the Leicester hero.

The mirror also reports that representatives of Jamie Vardy contacted The Gunners a month earlier only to notify that the England striker would be available for a switch depending on how favourable the offer is and listed an approximate wage of £120,000-a-week , which is the exact double of what Vardy earns at Leicester.

Arsenal were a bit sceptical in the beginning due to the age factor and whether the player would be able to keep up his magnificent form in the upcoming seasons. But according to recent turn of events, the Gunners have decided to battle it out to bring Vardy to the club this summer even though the player has signed a new contract with Leicester with a buy-out-clause last year.

Leicester City club officials and their manager Claudio Ranieri have earlier mentioned that they will not sell any of their stars this summer but critics are of the opinion that the it will be difficult for the club to hold on to their players.
