Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has revealed the reason for turning down the chance to become England boss.

Wenger said that he wanted to honour his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

The 66-year-old was asked whether the English FA had shown interest in his service to which he replied “Yes, but you know, I think I have shown I respect my contracts and I rate loyalty highly.

“I always did that with Arsenal and I have one more year to go so I was not available anyway.”

Wenger however, was not too confident about his future as the Frenchmen said that it all depends on how this season fares.`

“My contract runs until the end of the season. What I will do after will depend a little bit on how the season goes,”

Wenger was heavily touted to take over the reigns of English football after Roy Hodgson’s resignation in July, after a dismal performance at the Euro’s 2016.

he added “I was not available and Sam Allardyce has signed for two years, so the question is not of any actuality at the moment.”
