With the transfer window knocking at the door, Belgium and Liverpool striker Christian Benteke announced that he wants to talk to coach Jurgen Klopp in order to get a clear cut clarity about his future at Anfiled this summer.

Liverpool had signed Benteke from Aston Villa last summer for £32.5 million. However his recent performance in the Premier League was not up to the standards set by Liverpool. Inconsistency in his form prevented him from earning a spot in the first team.

The club had high hopes from him but Benteke failed to deliver up front and managed to score only 9 Premier League goals in 29 appearances. Benteke was also denied a start in Liverpool’s Europa League final clash against Sevilla and was brought as a substitute in the 83rd minute.

Speaking to The Guardian, Benteke said, “I signed a 5 year contract with the club, I didn’t sign to feature for just one year, and now I have to talk to the coach to find out his plans for the next season.

‘’The first season has been tough to cope up. Settling in a big club like Liverpool with a lot of talented players has not been easy. My prime focus now is the upcoming Euro Cup in France,” added Benteke.

According to sources, West Ham United are keen on securing the services of the 25-year-old Belgian striker which makes it important for him to know what Klopp thinks about his future in Liverpool. Benteke have also insisted that he is one of many players in a similar situation.

“I think it wasn’t my best season, but when I had my chance I scored important goals, I didn’t score goals in, like, 4-0s and 5-0s,” said Benteke.

“I’m not the only who is going to do that, a lot of players are going to want to know what will happen next season,” Benteke concluded.
