Liverpool Raises The Stake For Sterling, Rejects Man City’s £30 million Offer

Securing the services of the Liverpool speedster- Raheem Sterling, was always on the agenda of Manchester City and they have submitted an initial offer of £25 million which subsequently rose up to £30 million after including the additional expenses.

The American owned club has rejected the offer and in its place listed a hefty price tag of £50 million on the promising youngster that they managed to secure from Queens Park Rangers’ youth squad for £500,000 in the year 2010. It is understood that the rising interest in the player was a result of Sterling’s refusing to sign a new contract with Liverpool. Liverpool accentuated that they have no intention to sell the player to clubs like Manchester City and Real Madrid if they do not match the price demanded by the club.

There are no reports on how Man City has reacted on the sudden price hike. The club chairman- Khaldoon al Mubarak, has however promised the fans of spending money on top quality players this transfer season to make the team stronger. He also insisted that players vouch for playing in this club and the team has enough potential to take on the top teams in the world.

However studying the recent transfer strategies of liverpool, it is clearly evident that they try to hold on to their best players to garner maximum profit in the long run. The Suarez transfer story bears testimony to this fact as the club had rejected an offer from Arsenal and twelve months later they sold him to Barcelona at a whooping fee of £75m.
