Premier League giants Manchester United have officially announced the signing of Armenian international attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund. The transfer fee is believed to be in the region of £26m.

Mkhitaryan has signed a four-year contract with Manchester United which will keep him at the club until 2020. The contract also includes an additional option of extending his tenure by 12 months.

“I am very proud to join Manchester United, this move is a dream come true for me. I am excited to play for a club with such an illustrious history and hope to be part of it for a long time,” said Mkhitaryan.

I thank the trust the club and Jose Mourinho have put in me. Finally, I believe playing for such a great club honours my father’s memory, and the inspiration and drive he gave to me when I was young,” he added.

“Henrikh is a very talented footballer who has been in such prolific form for both his club and his country. He is a real team player with great skill, vision and also has a good eye for goal,” said Mourinho

I am delighted he has chosen to sign for United. I believe he will make an impact on the team very quickly as his style of play is suited to the Premier League. We are all looking forward to working with him,” he added.

The 27-year-old attacking midfielder had joined Dortmund in a €25m offer back in the year 2013 after establishing his class at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Mkhitaryan had an incredible last season at Dortmund with 18 goals and 20 assists to his name in all competitions. His playmaking abilities coupled with Aubameyang’s pace and Reu’s ball clinical finishes in cohesion, contributed in making Dortmund a lethal attack in the last Bundesliga season. Dortmund finished 2nd on the league table, just 10 points behind the champions Bayern Munich.

Playing in the right wing position Mkhitaryan scored 11 goals last Bundesliga season and had 15 assists to his name. The 27-year-old attacking midfielder created 78 chances and completed 922 passes last season with a pass accuracy rate of 75%.
