Schalke Confirm Signing Of Sevilla Captain Coke

Published on:

The talented defender and Sevilla captain Coke is all set to leave the Europa League champions and join Schalke after passing a medical at the German club.

Foottheball sources confirm that the transfer fee is in the region of €3 million. Coke have agreed on personal terms with Schalke and is expected to complete the remaining formalities with Sevilla on Monday before joining the German club on their preseason training camp in Austria, as per the official website of the Bundesliga side.

The Spanish right-back joined Sevilla back in 2011 and since then he has played a pivotal role to help his side to win three consecutive Europa League titles and finish as the runner-up in the Copa del Rey and UEFA Super Cup.

The 29-year-old defender becomes the latest player to leave the Spanish side, following the footsteps of Ever Banega, Jose Antonio Reyes, Ciro Immobile, Kevin Gameiro and Grzegorz Krychowiak, after the newly appointed coach Jorge Sampaoli took charge at Sevilla.

Sampaoli has been busy this summer revamping the entire squad and has already signed £20m striker Breel Embolo and defender Naldo.

FootTheBall sources confirm that Sampaoli is also on the brink of losing Leroy Sane, who has been linked with a summer switch to Manchester City.
