Arsenal Plotting Shock Move For Manchester United’s Daley Blind
Blind played a pivotal role in Manchester United’s fifth place finish in the last Premier League season but United’s recent signing of Eric Baily from Villareal have raised doubts over Blind’s future at Old Trafford.
The news came in as a blessing in disguise for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger as he is well aware of the Dutchman’s technical ability both in the midfield and as a defender. Wenger has been in search of a defensive midfielder who can link up with Laurent Koscielny through the flanks and it is believed that Arsenal are ready to capitalise on Blind’s uncertain future at Manchester United.
Initial reports hinted that Mourinho would ask Blind to leave the club this summer but brushing aside the rumours, Blind said in a recent interview that he wants to stay at United and would give his best to impress the new manager.
“I am looking forward to working with Mourinho. We will have to wait and see if anything changes for me,” Blind said.
“I will just give my all and work hard. Mourinho is a manager who has achieved a lot and I am keen to work with him.’’
‘’I might not be as big as Pepe [whom Mourinho managed at Real Madrid], but I think I have shown in the Premier League that I can hold my own defensively.’’
‘’We conceded the fewest goals in the Premier League [last season] and I think we had the most clean sheets.’’
That’s something to be proud of. You might be looking for a certain statement but I will just give my all under Mourinho,” Blind concluded.
