Cold War Between Barca Board & Dressing Room Intensifies As Messi Posts Picture With Neymar After Club Sue PSG Star

The on-going cold war between the Barcelona board and the players took an ugly turn on Tuesday night after Lionel Messi posted pictures of himself with Neymar on social media, just hours after the club had announced that they were suing the Brazilian star.

Lionel Messi posted pictures with Neymar after Barcelona said they were taking legal action

Messi took to social media and posted a photo of himself with Neymar which was taken at the birthday celebration of the Brazilian’s son Davi Lucca in Catalonia on Tuesday.

The Argentine legend also attached a caption with the photo, which read: ‘He’s back’.

The message was a prank on Gerard Pique, referring to his famous tweet ‘he stays’ that he had posted before Neymar joined PSG on a world-record move.

But Messi’s Instagram post also aimed a dig at the Barcelona board who just hours earlier had announced that they were taking legal action against Neymar following his world-record move to PSG.

The Catalan club issued a statement on Tuesday confirming that they have filed a lawsuit against Neymar demanding the Brazilian to pay back a renewal bonus for not honouring his contract renewal he signed last year.

Barcelona made such a claim at a Barcelona labour court on August 11, and informed of it to the Spanish Football Federation on Tuesday requesting them to convey it to the French Football Federation and FIFA.

The club statement read: “The club demands the player pay back a renewal bonus for a failure to honour his contract; 8.5 million euros in damages; and an additional 10 per cent in arrears.”

PSG hit back with their own statement, which read: “Paris Saint-Germain was surprised to learn of the press release issued today by FC Barcelona announcing the introduction of legal proceedings in Spain against its former player Neymar Jr and stating that Default of payment by Neymar Jr of the sums so demanded by his former club, the Paris Saint-Germain should assume jointly the burden of it.”

“The Club recalls that, like Neymar Jr., it strictly respected all applicable laws and rules and can only regret, once again, the attitude of FC Barcelona.”

Fans had several questions flooding their minds – and one such thing was – which side Neymar’s old Barca team-mates might be as the club continued its post-PSG transfer legal battle.

And the fans did not have to wait too long as photos of Neymar and his former Barca team-mates, along with Dani Alves, who is also in Catalonia with Neymar, emerged on social media.

Neymar also produced a tongue-in-cheek caption for the picture of him and Gerard Pique

Neymar also took to social media and posted a photo of himself with Pique, along with a caption ‘He stays,’ and long-time Barca target Marco Veratti also dropped a comment on the picture.

Pique also appeared in a group photo posted by Neymar that also included Messi, Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic, Alves and the Brazilian defender Douglas.

It is understood that the dressing room are upset as the Barca board have failed to rope in a big signing after Neymar’s departure.

Neymar also posted on his official Instagram account a picture of the Barcelona reunion

If Neymar’s move to PSG is the general concern – an even bigger threat to Barcelona’s future is Messi’s unsigned contract as fears continue to grow that the Argentine legend could follow the Brazilian out of the club on a free transfer at the end of this season.

Premier League giants Manchester City are set to break the world transfer record and activate Lionel Messi’s £275million release clause, according to reports in France.

Lionel Messi has a £275million buy-out clause on Barcelona contract

Neymar has become the world’s most expensive player after he joined PSG from Barcelona for £198m.

The £100m barrier has already been breached with Neymar’s move to PSG and according to Yahoo Sport France, we could now see Man City eclipsing the £200m mark as they are desperately trying to tempt Messi to make a move to the Etihad.

He wants to leave

Man City have met with Lionel Messi’s representatives to discuss a potential world-record transfer, according to reports.

The Barcelona superstar is “seriously considering” leaving the club, according to the Daily Record.

Barcelona are going through a crisis this summer – and it is very much evident from their lack lustre performances.

Losing Neymar to PSG have torn them apart – as they wanted to build their future around the Brazilian star. But the French giants dealt a huge blow to the Catalan giants by meeting his stratospheric buy-out-clause.

Messi and co watched Real Madrid lift the Super Cup

Barca replaced him with Paulinho – and it shows that they might have just lost the plot with just 2,000 fans turning up at the Nou Camp as the club unveiled the former Tottenham flop.

And Real Madrid hammered the final nail in the coffin as Barca suffered a humiliating 5-1 aggregate loss against Zidane’s men in the Spanish Super Cup.

Barcelona have made a positive start to their La Liga campaign with a 2-0 victory against Real Betis but they still need to address a lot of issues.

Klopp does not want to lose his star player

They have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Liverpool star Coutinho, as the Reds have rejected three back-to-back bids from the Catalan giants and have made it clear that they will not sell their prized asset.

All eyes on him

There is still no clarity in a deal for Dortmund youngster Dembele, as the German club is not willing to sell the French winger.

Such chaos and disorder has now forced Messi to give a second thought about his future at Barcelona.

Earlier this year, Mundo Deportivo had reported that Messi had informed the Barcelona hierarchy that he wanted to part ways with the club last summer to join Manchester City under Pep Guardiola.

Messi is the lone warrior at Barca

The Barcelona legend had sensationally retired from international football in June last year after failing to score from the spot in Argentina’s defeat against Chile on penalties in the Copa America final. However, later he reversed his decision in a bid to help his country in the World Cup qualifiers.

Things got worse when he was handed a suspended 21-month prison sentence for tax fraud.

And Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo had reported that Messi wanted to leave Barcelona and join Man City under Guardiola due to the prison sentence.

Pep Guardiola and Lionel Messi enjoyed enormous success together in Spain

Messi shares a good bond with the Guardiola, after enjoying plenty of success together during Pep’s managerial stint at the Catalan club.

He had spoken to club president Josep Bartomeu, but the Barca hierarchy had made it clear that Messi could leave only if a club matched his 250million euros (£221m) release clause.

Man City were ready to splurge £150m for the Argentine superstar and Bartomeu and vice-president Jordi Mestre travelled to the United States to hold a meeting with Messi’s father, Jorge.

They couldn’t reach an agreement despite a three-hour meeting and Messi was determined to leave before his fellow team-mate Luis Suarez convinced him to change his decision.

But now things have changed after Neymar’s departure and Messi is yet to sign a contract extension with Barcelona.

Losing Messi would surely destroy Barcelona, and this could happen as reports reveal that despite an announcement in July, the Argentine legend has not signed a new deal at the Catalan club.

And Messi decides to leave – Man City boss Pep Guardiola would demand the City bosses to do whatever needed to land him at the Etihad.

Rumours about a move to Man City have intensified after it was revealed he had recently followed the Premier League club’s official Instagram account.
