Copa America 2016: Chile Begins Training In U.S. Ahead Of Clash Against Argentina

Copa America defending champions kicked off training in San Francisco on Friday ahead of their meeting in the Centennial against .

midfielder Arturo Vidal showed up in Friday’s training but spent most of the time on the pitch with trainers instead of soccer boots and his participation was outside of the group activity.

Vidal worked alongside the team’s physical therapist with an easy jog around the pitch despite having previously said he would not be absent during the Copa America debut.

Celta de Vigo’s () midfielder, Fabian Orellana, was absent from training as he currently has a fever. However more serious problems regarding his health before the Argentina match have been ruled out.

During training, Mark Gonzalez’s arrival was confirmed. The Sport Recife midfielder arrived in the United States to replace Matias Fernandez, who injured his left knee.

The Copa America’s defending champions will be entering the tournament after two worrying defeats to Jamaica and Mexico.

Chile was drawn into Group D along with Argentina, Panama and Bolivia.

Chile and Argentina will take one each other on Monday in the Levi’s Stadium at 02:00 GMT.
