Mexico make a dream start to their Copa America campaign as they beat Uruguay 3-1 in their first group stage match at University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale on Sunday.
An own goal from Alvaro Pereira in the 3rd minute set Uruguay on the back foot and a second yellow issued to Vecino in the 45th minute put the Mexican side on the driving seat.

Mexico dominated the midfield and their quick counter-attacks tore apart the Uruguay defense who at times struggled to retain possession and at times looked totally out of shape.
However Uruguay looked positive after the restart and started gaining momentum and desperately searched for an equaliser. Later Guardado was also shown red in the 73rd minute to bring both the teams down to ten men.
Godin pulled one back for Uruguay in the 74th minute. The Atletico Madrid defender latched on to the end of free-kick and headed the ball past Mexico goalkeeper Talavera.
Mexico handled pressure well and were far more structured, with repeated runs down the wings and whipping in clinical crosses to dismantle the Uruguay defense.
Veteran Rafa Marquez lodged a thunderous strike from close range on to the top corner on the near side to restore the lead for Mexico in the 85th minute.
Herrera scored the final one for Mexico in injury time to put the game to bed. Lozano picked up Jimenez at the near post and he nudged it on to Herrera who popped a header into the empty net.
