RB Leipzig owner Dietrich Mateschitz has revealed that the club has received a whooping €75m (£66.3m) offer for Naby Keita, who has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool this summer.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is desperate to bolster his squad this summer and have identified Keita as his top midfield target.

Klopp is keen on roping in the highly-rated midfielder this summer but has now seen a €65m (£57m) bid for Keita rejected by Leipzig.

Meanwhile, Mateschitz has revealed that they have received a better offer worth €75m (£66.3m) for Keita, but he reiterated that the club is not willing to sell their key player this summer.

Naby Keita is Liverpool’s top midfield target this summer.

Speaking to German publication Bild, Mateschitz said: “We do not sell players who are still under contract just to make a lot of money.”

“Lately we got a €75m offer for Naby Keita. No way! He has a contract and he will accomplish it.”

“To sell him would not only be a proof of distrust to our fans but also the wrong sign for our players like Timo Werner, who is in demand too.”

Earlier this month, FootTheBall had reported that Keita, who played a pivotal role in guiding Leipzig to a second-place finish in the Bundesliga, is keen on joining Liverpool and is excited about working under former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp.

Leipzig do not want to sell Naby Keita this summer

However, Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick has made it clear that they would not sell Keita, and even a three-figure sum would not change their mind.

But sources reveal that Rangnick does not have full support of the club and he might be under pressure to sell if a mega-money offer comes their way.

FootTheBall had earlier reported in July that Liverpool are keen on increasing their transfer bid for Keita, but it is not clear whether they are the master mind behind the €75m offer that RB Leipzig owner Dietrich Mateschitz has shed light on.
