Atletico Madrid Boss Simeone Will Not Tie Man Utd Target Griezmann Down

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is not shocked to see their star player Antoine Griezmann linked with a move to Premier League giants Manchester United.

The Argentine manager also insisted that he will not tie down the French striker if he decides to leave Atletico Madrid and join Man Utd under Jose Mourinho.

According to Foottheball sources Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann held talks with the Red Devils officials and verbally agreed about his wage packet and shirt number at Manchester United, according to reports.

The French superstar is now set to join Manchester United for a world record transfer fee in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Foottheball sources claim that Greizmann’s representatives have been holding talks with Manchester United bosses for the last few months and the French striker, who was the top scorer at Euro 2016 is keen on making a switch to Old Trafford.

Griezmann has displayed good form for Atletico Madrid this season and has scored 12 goals in 25 appearances and Manchester United bosses are now keen on roping in the world-class striker with a big-money move.

Simeone is not surprised at Manchester United’s huge interest in his star striker, despite a recent dip in Griezmann’s form. The French striker recently broke his three-month goal drought in the La Liga.

The Argentine manager admitted that Griezmann is an integral part of his Atletico Madrid squad but he has made up his mind and will not deny a transfer request from the French striker.

Ahead of Thursday’s Copa del Rey quarter-final first leg against Eibar, Simeone said: “I don’t tie anybody down, I simply keep working to continue getting better for the sake of the club.”

“He is in an extraordinary moment, is working well, has got back on the scoresheet and his form is good.”

“It is normal that the best teams in the world want him. I am not surprised that the teams who are looking are the ones who can afford him.”

Earlier, last year Griezmann had revealed that he wanted to play alongside Manchester United’s world record signing and his international teammate Paul Pogba. And now it is only a matter of time that his wish comes true.

The negotiations so far have been smooth and according to reports, the Atletico Madrid star has now agreed his wage packet and jersey number at Manchester United.

However, Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid are currently serving a transfer ban and club now needs to find out whether they can buy or sell players in the summer transfer window.

Foottheball sources claim that once the transfer ban is uplifted, Atletico Madrid will launch a tempting bid for their former player Diego Costa in order to replace Griezmann.
