Manchester United Need To Be More Like Arch Rivals Liverpool

should play like arch rivals and try to find the net from all over the pitch amid their dependence on , according to Red Devils legend Ryan Giggs.

Manchester United have struggled in front of goal this season and has depended too much on Zlatan for an escape route.

Zlatan has played a pivotal role for the Red Devils after joining on a free transfer from giants last summer. Mourinho has also been left frustrated as Man Utd stars have failed to find the net consistently.

Zlatan already has 16 Premier League goals to his name this season and has scored 27 in all competitions for Man Utd, who are struggling to finish in top four after having drawn 12 games and nine of them at – with the last one, a frustrating 1-1 draw with Everton.

Zlatan has lacked support upfront and Mata has been the only player who reached double figures for United this season.

, Anthony Martial, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and have clinched seven goal each and skipper Rooney has only managed five.

This has left the Man Utd hierarchy frustrated as they are now sixth in the Premier League table – four points behind fourth-placed Man City, and Red Devils legend Giggs accentuated that every player should find the net as they did during Sir Alex Ferguson’s era.

And Giggs said that Manchester United should adopt an approach like arch rivals Liverpool, who have already scored 66 goals – which is the league’s highest.

Giggs said: “They’re getting in those positions, but it’s concentration when it falls for you. Jose’s said it, hasn’t he?”

“It’s frustrating. You’re dominating games and have so many draws. You look up and it’s like ‘what could have been?”

“There’s luck too. [Paul] Pogba’s hit the bar nine times. If he scores those then he’s got 15. It’s that, it’s confidence – all of those need to come together.”

“You can’t just rely on one person because they can have an off day. Leicester last year. OK, Jamie Vardy scored a lot of goals, but Riyad Mahrez got 17. That’s what you need.”

“That’s how the United teams I played in were like. I’d chip in with seven or eight, [David Beckham] Becks would, [] Scholesy would. Four centre forwards would. The centre halves. Denis Irwin too. The goals came from everywhere.”

ryan giggs“You only have to look at Liverpool. I questioned them — they’ve not got a centre forward who can score 20 goals. But they just come from everywhere and they are the leading goalscorers. That’s what United need to get back.”

“My target was always to get double figures and then 15 assists. That’s 25 goals. If Becks is doing the same, you’ve got a lot there.”

“Sir Alex Ferguson would say ‘this is what I expect from you’. It put pressure on but you knew what the expectations were. If you were left out, you’d know why.”
