Former Bayern Munich boss has been busy this summer in making immediate reinforcements ahead of the upcoming season.

It is believed that the new City boss is in desperate search of a top flight defender to add strength to the back-line before the summer transfer window closes.

John Stones has been highly linked with Manchetser City in the recent months with other other top clubs also interested in securing the signatures of the English centre-back.

Foottheball sources confirm that Manchester City saw their £40m take-it-or-leave-it bid for John rejected by Everton.

Reports confirm that the Toffees are not ready to lower the £50million valuation of England defender John Stones and they believe that there is big gap between the asking price and Man City’s recent bid.

Foottheball sources also confirm that Everton has shown no interest in accepting Wilfred Bony as a part of the money and swap deal.

Everton are believed to be firm on their stance as they hope that Man City will come up with an improved bid for Stones because the City officials are highly interested in signing the player – to complete Guardiola’s transfer jigsaw puzzle.

The anticipated £50million move away to Man City will make Stones the most expensive player in English history, moving above Raheem Sterling, who was signed for £49m.

Guardiola is on the brink of signing Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Jesus from Palmeiras for £28.6m.

If Manchetser City finally rope in Stones, it will take their total summer spending to more than £150m, after already securing the services of Leroy Sane (£37m), Ilkay Gundogan (£20.4m), Nolito (£13.8m), and Oleksandr Zinchenko (£1.7m) this summer.
