Pep Guardiola Admits Aguero Will Most Likely Leave Manchester City

Published on:

Man City boss Pep Guardiola has now revealed that Argentine superstar Sergio Aguero may leave the club in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Guardiola has held talks with the Argentine striker and informed him that the Premier League club desperately wants him to stay, but the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager assumes that Aguero could make a switch this summer.

Despite scoring crucial goals this season, Aguero has lost the place in the first team after the arrival of Brazilian wonder-kid Gabriel Jesus, who has proved his mettle right from the beginning of his Premier League career.

Foottheball sources also claim that Ligue 1 giants PSG are keen on roping in Aguero and are planning a tempting bid for the Argentine striker.

Guardiola said: “I would like [Aguero] to stay but I don’t know what is going to happen. I don’t know. I was so clear with Sergio.”

Sergio AgueroManchester City have never softened their stance regarding Aguero’s future and have always insisted that the Argentine is not for sale. However, according to foottheball sources, Guardiola had made it clear to the Argentine that he needs to fight for his place in the team during a late-night meeting in Manchester.

Brazilian star Gabriel Jesus has settled in really well after arriving at Man City in January and now has three goals to his name in three Premier League appearances.

PSG are interested in securing the services of Aguero and have already held internal meetings to enquire about the financial requirements in order to land the Argentine hit-man.

From time to time Man City bosses have stressed that the Argentine is not for sale but Guardiola accentuated that the final decision is in Aguero’s hands.

Last week Aguero had made it clear that his future at Man City depends on the final decision of the club bosses, and Guardiola was an open book while talking about the Argentine’s future.

Guardiola said: “He has been banned for seven games this season and we missed him a lot. He played every time when he was fit. He did a good performance and sometimes not. I know how difficult it is to find top goalscorers.”

The former Barcelona manager has always demanded more firepower from Aguero and the Argentine himself agreed that he needs to learn a lot from the Brazilian wonder-kid Gabriel Jesus.

Guardiola made it clear to the Argentine that he needs to fight for his place in the team during a late-night meeting in Manchester last month.

Guardiola said: “I know his level and I know what he’s done for this club.”

“I know his strengths. I know he’s trying, I know how much he fought against Tottenham and how many chances he had. But without him at Crystal Palace in the FA Cup I saw three guys up front with a high intensity and thought, “Wow, I like what they do.”

“In the last game it gave them continuity. My advice to the guys is keep going, show me again how good you are.”
