Spurs The PERFECT Place For Young Players To Develop Says Alex Ferguson-Inspired Pochettino

Spurs boss accentuated that under his mentorship Tottenham is now the “perfect club” for young English players.

The Argentine manager revealed that he took inspiration form Man Utd legend Sir Alex Ferguson and accentuated that home grown English stars of the future have the same potential and quality as rising stars from , and .

Tottenham youngsters have clinched the PFA’s Young Player of the Award four times in the last five years and their superstar striker and rising talent Dele Alli have been shortlisted for the accolade again this term.

Pochettino, who stressed that Alli should also have been shortlisted for the main PFA Player of the year award with Kane, said: “Tottenham are showing a big belief and faith in young players.”

“Tottenham is not the only club, but I think it is one of the best few clubs that believes and for young players it is a perfect club to develop their game.”

“It’s a big pressure to win when you are a big club. But I think for me the best example in football in many years was with Sir Alex Ferguson and what he created with young talent from the academy or from , which created the core of a team that won everything.”

“That is a good example for me.”

Pochettino also explained that the pressure to win every game forces Premier League clubs to rope in ready-made foreign players than focus on developing home-grown players.

“The problem is to show you have faith and believe. One of our challenges in the last four years was to show the English people that the talent exists here.”

“I think Southampton [Pochettino’s previous club] and Tottenham are showing if you believe and work and spend time, that they have the same talent as in Argentina, Spain and Brazil.”

“It is all about belief.”

“It is true it is easier to go to or Spain or or or Argentina or Brazil to buy players.”

“To bring players — 17, 18 or 19 year olds, or your own players — through the academy when you have money to go in different markets… that is only if you are a little bit crazy — like we are.”

“We in believe in younger players and discovering the talent.”
