UEFA Champions League: Barcelona Vs Bayern Munich

Published on:

To play against the same team (Barcelona) where you have been poised both as a player and a coach, is not an easy task for Josep Guardiola. Guardiola is now the acting coach of the German Giants Bayern Munich.

Barcelona meets Bayern Munich in the first leg of UEFA Champions League semi-finals. Their plays have been different but offensive. It has always been Messi-Suarez-Neymar Vs Muller-Robben-Gotze, and people are eager to watch the best two clubs in the world fight for glory.

Bayern seems to have outclassed Barcelona by winning three out of previous four clashes, which includes a 3-0 win in the last year’s UEFA semis. In the quarter finals Barcelona punted Paris Saint Germain by an aggregate of 5-1. While Bayern lost the first leg to FC Porto by a difference of two goals, but they returned strongly and defeated them at home by 6-1. Barcelona seems to be thirsty for German blood and take the revenge of the humiliation they went through two years ago in the finals where Munich defeated them by 7-0.

Even in 1995-96 Bayern defeated Barcelona by an aggregate of 4-3 and lifted the UEFA trophy. The current coach of Bayern was the coach for Barcelona in 2008-2009 UEFA league when for the first time Barcelona defeated Bayern Munich by 5-1 aggregate.

Barcelona has a home record of never losing at Camp Nou since their crash against Bayern in 2013; they have played 32 UEFA matches at home, in which they’ve won 25 of them. Talking about the German team, Bayern, who are the five time champions and who have appeared in the finals for 10 times, now seek to exploit Barca’s defense and maintain their record of beating all Spanish teams in semis.
