Manchester City ace defender and Belgium national team captain Vincent Kompany announced that he will not feature in the upcoming Euro Cup due to injury.

Kompany suffered his latest thigh injury earlier this week in the Champions league semi-final defeat to Real Madrid.

The Belgian captain announced from his official Facebook page that he will not be leading his side in the forthcoming Euro Championship in France.

“I’ll miss the Euros. To me that’s very sad news. So I could be standing here, feeling sorry for myself. I fear for my career as others may do,” Kompany announced on his Facebook page.

“There is a bigger picture to everything in life and only failing to see it, will cause me to fail. I am a hard worker and a fighter and if you are too, then you know that, to people like us, success can come in many forms. We trust ourselves when the going gets tough.

“I trust my friends and teammates to do well and do us proud at the next European Championships in France.

“I am now officially their most fervent supporter and I will be there to support them,” he added.

The defender has made just 14 English Premier League appearances for Manchester City this season due a persistent calf injury that he picked up in September.

Man City’s defensive pillar has only made 14 appearances for the club this season due to a persistent calf injury that he picked up in last September.
