German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund always cross paths when it comes to securing the services of players, with Munich usually coming out on top, acquiring services of top Dortmund stars.
But Dortmund have turned the tables around this time as they have signed Bayern Munich midfielder Sebastian Rode.
The 25-year old has signed for the Signal Iduna Park outfit on a four-year contract.
The fee for the former German U21 international has not been disclosed, though it rumored that the it could be in the region of £13 million.
Rode is Dortmund’s fourth signing this summer, having already secured the services of Ousmane Dembele, Mikel Merino and Marc Bartra.
Michael Zorc, Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director said “Sebastian Rode is a dynamic and combative player with a good temperament. These qualities will make him an immensely valuable player. We are happy to have won the race to sign him.”
Rode had signed for the German champions in 2014 on a free transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt and made his debut against his new club in the German Supercup.
But Rode fell down the pecking order at bayern, playing less then 400 minutes of dootball last season.
When asked about the move Rode said “I am a childhood BVB fan and therefore I’m really happy that the transfer to my favourite club worked out.
“Thomas Tuchel is a class trainer, and I already know some of my team-mates. They are top characters, athletic and extremely strong. I am looking forward to the new challenge and my first home game in black and yellow in the Signal Iduna Park.”
