Claudio Ranieri To Nantes Delayed… Because He’s Too Old!

Claudio Ranieri is on the brink of taking over Nantes as their new manager, but the announcement has been put on hold due to the Italian coach’s age.

The former Leicester City boss, who guided them to their first ever Premier League triumph in 2015-16, is without a job since February this year.

Leicester City sacked Claudio Ranieri, just nine months after he guided the Foxes to their first ever Premier League triumph, due to a drastic dip in form that had pushed them down into the relegation zone.

But he is now set to make a return in the managerial circuit, but the French club Nantes have to wait for a confirmation of the deal from the FFF.

The governing body of Ligue 1 does not permit the hiring of a manager over the age of 65, and the former Foxes boss turned 65 in October 2016.

Club president Ndd Waldemar Kita said: “The League agrees, I believe that only the French Football Federation (FFF) with Mr. (Raymond) Domenech is delaying the appointment a little, I do not know why.”

“What we are interested in is the experience of Ranieri as a footballer and coach, since we know that he has coached the biggest teams in Europe.”
