EPL Chelsea Vs Liverpool: Mourinho Faces The Axe As LFC Drums CFC 3-1

Published on:

The once-mighty Blues Chelsea are certainly feeling it with two losses heading into their clash with Liverpool.

Jose Mourinho will hope his side retain some confidence, but the degree to which that remains is yet to be seen. Suffering two back to back defeats, one against West Ham this time last Saturday and three days later against Stoke City on penalties.

Compounding these losses, the FA handed a misconduct charge on Mourinho and his assistant Silvino Louro at Upton Park.

It’s been eight matches across all competitions since Liverpool bested Chelsea though the Reds have drawn four of those contests. The last time the Reds did the trick, in 2011-12, they swept the series.

Liverpool will look to finally continue the break of their win drought with new coach Jürgen Klopp at the helm.

On Wednesday, the Reds secured their first win against Bournemouth in the League Cup.

The hosts appear vulnerable, languishing in 15th place with pressure mounting on the manager. Jürgen Klopp, bolstered by the first win at his new club in midweek, could lay down a marker in south-west London at Mourinho’s expense.

The only common factor between the two sides is the injury list.

More than the on-field contest, it’ll be the battle of wits between two of the best coaches in Mourinho and Klopp. Plus, the Blues are playing at home and will be playing for pride to avoid relegation.
