La Liga champions Barcelona have made it clear that they are not willing to sell Argentine defender Javier Mascherano until and unless the club interested in him is willing to pay a 100 million euro ($111 million) release clause.
According to Spanish media the Barcelona defender has agreed to 3 year deal with Juventus.
The report also suggested that Juventus has offered the Argentine defender a significant increase in his salary to lure him away from the Catalans.
An unnamed Barcelona official said, ”Mascherano is not for sale, he is nontransferable.”
However there is no reports of any negotiations or deal made between the two clubs and the a 100 million euro ($111 million) release clause is supposed to be the deciding factor.
Football enthusiasts around the globe believe that Juventus would not be willing to pay more than €30m for a player who will turn 32 next month.
Mascherano’s present contract with Barcelona expires on June 2018 with a release clause of $111 million but fresh rumours that the Catalans are in search for a new defender is believed to be the reason behind the Argentine’s doubts regarding his future at Barcelona. Mascherano is also believed to be interested in a midfield role in the concluding years of his career.
