EURO 2016: German Squad Announced, Marco Reus Missing

Published on:

Germany’s squad for the 2016 EUROs has been announced, with the surprise inclusion of uncapped Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl.

The biggest shocker is the absence of Dortmund star Marco Reus. Reus has been left out due to fitness concerns.

Joachim Löw’s final 23-man squad includes the likes of Liverpool’s Emre Can and Manchester United’s veteran midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger. Both the players had average seasons with their clubs, but Schweinsteigers inclusion can be credited to his vast experience at the international level.

The Germans will be looking to take inspiration from the Spanish, who four years back followed a World Cup win with triumph in the EUROs.

Although bookies have made the host nation France the favorites, followed by Belgium.
