With Ashley Williams highly linked with a summer move to Everton, it is believed that the responsibility of leading the squad will fall on Sigurdsson’s shoulders.

The Welsh defender Williams is expected to join Everton for a fee believed in the region of £10m, as both the clubs have agreed in principle.

Sigurdsson joined Swansea form Tottenham Hotspur, back in the year 2014 and since then he has played an instrumental role in the club’s success.

The Iceland playmaker played a pivotal role in avoiding Swansea’s relegation from Premier league, last season. He bagged 11 goals in 36 appearances in the last EPL season and has emerged as the fan favourite.

Prior to his permanent move to Swansea, Sigurdsson had spent six months on loan at the club from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, back in the year 2011 and had stood up to the club’s expectations by netting seven goals in 18 games under the mentorship of then-manager Brendan Rodgers.

However Sigurdsson opted to move away to Tottenham Hotspur for £8.5m in the next summer, in search of new pastures to take his career to a higher pedestal.

The Iceland playmaker scored 13 goals in a total of 83 appearances for Spurs in two seasons before signing a permanent at Swansea in 2014.

Sigurdsson has made 44 international appearances for Iceland and played a quintessential role in guiding his nation to the quarter-finals of Euro 2016, their first ever in history.
